California nearing San Francisco

June 15, Lodi CA

Slept in and mucked around, it’s windy again this morning.  We ask the GPS to find us a shopping mall and spend an hour or so there – not really long enough but I managed to do some damage to the Visa.  Kim couldn’t find anything to keep him occupied so he went back to the coach for a coffee and a muffin.  Next stop is a Home Depot to buy a lump of 4” x 2” to lever the road side rear jack which refuses to fully retract.  Yes, Kiwi ingenuity works again!

Allstays App finds us a Regional Park for tonight, near Lodi - Westgate Landing.  This is dry camping again but we are all charged up after the last two nights.  We are beside a levy and on the other side there are about a dozen house boats commandeered by a church group of youngsters, they are doing a skit at 6pm and I am sure we will hear them from here.  It’s still windy but warm  - 23C.

This is agricultural land, lots or orchards, vineyards and right next to us at our campsite – corn!

Dry camping next to corn!

Houseboats full of young Christians!
The neighbours come back with their three big dogs and chain them up to a run across their camp site.  Kim has decided they are nutters, not the dogs, the two men! One definitely talks to himself! So we don’t hang around in the morning and get on the road by 9.30am.

June 16, to San Francisco CA

It’s only about 30 miles to our next stay so we trundle along and spy a Walmart (no surprises there, they are everywhere) so we pull in and I get my haircut : )  It took ages but Africa did a good job, it’s short!  Meantime Kim had good fun doing boys shopping and came back with some new jandals, a printer and some other boys stuff which I don’t know what it is or what it’s for!

We pull up to the Vallejo Motor Home Park and have to say we are a little disappointed, it is definitely mostly seasonals living here and doesn’t have much to offer in the way of ambience, however it is cheap for a suburb of San Francisco.  We are paying $45/night and the choices a little closer were around $100.  We have booked a rental car which will be delivered at 9.30 am tomorrow and after we lock up very securely will head out for our first sightseeing day.

It’s sunny with a few white fluffies and a balmy 28 C at 4pm.
