Lakeside OR

Saturday 2 July

The mornings are still sunny but cool and while we wait for it to warm up Kim has found a TV channel which, for this whole long weekend, is dedicated to John Wayne movies - he (Kim) is in heaven!  Actually I'm pretty certain John Wayne is in heaven also!  But Kim is mindful that he wants to achieve some chores today too, so he doesn’t spend all day on the couch : )

Another of our neighbours has two beautiful big dogs and one is an ‘upsize me’ white labradoodle!  I’ve never seen a mega full size one before - I so want one!  Loads of personality, no malting hair, but regular trimming necessary, sooo cute!

Watch this space!
Nora (another neighbour and staff member) invites us personally to the 4th of July Pot Luck Dinner tonight so make the effort and scratch together a Potato/Onion/Cheese dish - I didn’t exactly plan on needing to cater at our last grocery session so I didn’t have much choice for a culinary delight.  However this dish, cooked in the convection oven, was deemed a success!

There were probably 40-50 guests at the dinner but there wasn’t as much socialising as we hoped.  We had Grace at around 6pm and then everyone queued up to eat - there was a good assortment of food and we recognised most of it!  Followed by dessert, good big American dessert and lots of.  Then the whole thing kinda disbanded and we wandered back to the RV to pass the time until the fireworks at 10pm.  The fireworks were pretty amazing for a small lakeside town.  I was interested to see if they could do red, white and blue - yep they can!

Sunday morning was fine but cool again so we are in no hurry to start the day until it warms up some.  Our other neighbours, across the way take off on their bikes telling us there is a classic car show in town so after our coffee which is already brewing we get on our bikes and go see.  Woohoo - it’s a mini Beach-Hop complete with a Rock and Roll band playing right outside a real back in the day American Diner.

Rock 'n Roll outside the American Diner

Kim has a very close eye on this T'Bird

K reminiscing about the sorta stuff he used to work on, back in the day!
You can buy this 1970 Mustang for $80k!
Lakeside, the gateway to Ten Mile Lakes, was a resort town favoured by Hollywood stars back in the 1930's, so  it is a little dated but pretty cool - remember Happy Days!

It was quite blustery riding into the wind back to camp, gave the calves a good work out!  At least it usually calms down in the evening.  When we get back Kim installs the new power socket so we can hide the printer in the cupboard behind the washer dryer where it was supposed to go!  As he said, it is always the small jobs which take the time!  But it's all done and no tantrums!

Tonight for dinner we are having Spag Bol, Kim's current favourite, so I'm just going to go prepare it while he has a wee well-deserved nana nap!  Catcha later!

  1. So Kim's booked a container to bring the car back in, then?
