This weekend
Seattle is hosting their annual Seafair
show. Thousands of Seattleites gather to
see the world’s fastest powerboats race on Lake Washington and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels soar in the sky
overhead - the biggest weekend in Seattle! We have seen the jets and they are fast and LOUD!
It’s obviously
going to be an extremely busy weekend and the I5 already reflects that, with bridge
closures - and there are a lot of bridges here in the Seattle area. We would like to stay and check it out but not
likely we will find any parking for our rig so head away this morning, ready
for the next chapter in our adventure.
The plan is
to head south, on a different route to how we arrived, to see more of the city
and Kim has picked what looks to be a nice park on Alder Lake near Eatonville
for us to stay tonight. Our first
glimpse of the 7 mile long lake is breath taking, the narrow road in is high
and we look down on one arm of the turquoise water.

Alder Dam was built in 1945 and we can see it
from a short walk down to the lake. The
other direction takes us on a track to the beach and launch ramps, it is a bit
of a hike but a pretty walk. There is
actually some wire fencing with warning signs not to drive or jump into the
water, one of the only safety conscious we have come across so far.

There are a
lot of families here for the weekend, kids on bikes everywhere and the playground
right out in front of us is pretty full on, especially the swings. The big kids were partying pretty hard into
the night too!
