To Denver and Pueblo CO

The day started so well – a bright sunny morning, it was already 17C at 8 am when I went for my walk.  We were packed up and ready to go by 9.30 am, probably the earliest ever, then the freak’n entry steps wouldn't work!  At least they were stuck in the up position, thank goodness for small mercies.  So we spend a couple of hours trying to fix, read manual, google, phone a friend etc.  Good news is, if the repairs is expensive the cost of repair will be covered under our new warranty.  Just up the road a few miles in Johnstown is a huge RV Dealership, Parts and Sales operation called Lazy Days RV.  We spent a lot of money with their Tampa Florida branch last year, getting service and tyres etc.  They were on the ball, we were booked in within 15 minutes, the coach was in the shop two minutes later and ten minutes later we are told the problem is a short in the wires to the magnetic switch in the door!  Kim is kicking himself because he ‘tidied’ those wires when he had the cover off installing the alarm light a couple of days ago.  The part was $17 the labour cost to diagnose and fit was $139.

Scenery was pretty ordinary on the drive south but the Rockies to the East still had some snow on the peaks.

Denver was a bit of a nightmare to drive through even though the I25 goes right through the city.  The divers are crazy.  The traffic was intense because tonight the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers are playing at the huge stadium in Denver – the  first NFL game of the season, the teams are old rivals (finalists) from last year.

Stadium right off the I 25

Traffic eased up a shade after we passed the exits to the Stadium.  In the middle of all this the driver’s side sun shade came adrift and it rattled for the next 10 miles until we stopped for diesel.  Need to fix it properly tonight.

We passed Pikes Peak International Raceway, Kim says it is famous!

We got to Pueblo State Park, southern Colorado after 4pm and it was another half hour before we were set up in our site.  The campground in on the Pueblo Reservoir and there is a marina there but the sites are up on a hill, quite a ways from the water and there isn't much shade and it's hot.  It’s been a very long day!
