Willis, TX

A truck pulls up into Cracker Barrel’s oversize parking, for breakfast, it’s tickles Kim’s fancy!  Perhaps not so efficient after all.

"Efficient Transport" is the logo on the door, carrying two empty drums??

It was a rather noisy night, as kinda expected.  We are  up and at it early so arrive at DeMontrond before 9am.  They take us pretty much straight away and affix the awning, in a cowboy like manner and we don’t get an apology for the inconvenience, or the scratches sustained as it unattached itself twice, or any excuse as to why it wasn’t done correctly in the first place.

Never mind, it's on there now, hopefully for the duration and we are back on the road taking the I45 north heading out of town for the weekend.  Before we get too far we decide to call in at Northlake RV Resort where we are booked from Sunday night, to pick up our mail which they are holding for us – plus we get an advance look at the place, it looks rather posh!  Next is a quick stop off at the Conroe Outlet Mall but disappointingly most of the shops are empty.

So we arrive nice and early at Park on the Lake RV Park, near Willis, TX for the next two days.  Our site is right on the waterfront and we have a little wharf (dock) right beside our picnic table.

Jet Ski on our dock, does that mean we can use it?

Somebody is out enjoying the water today

There are ducks and other birdlife, herons, I think.  The park is quite full but a lot of residents seem to be seasonals, or full timers.  It’s hot so it is not too long before we are ensconced at the pool which we have to ourselves for most of the afternoon.

Kim is starfishing at the other end of the pool!

BTW I googled the building with a hole in it:  ‘Chase Tower is a 55-story postmodern skyscraper and is the fourth tallest building in the Dallas CBD.  It is nicknamed the ”Keyhole Building” because of the six story hole right in the centre of the building, from the 40th floor up.   It has a glass dome on the very top.  Deloittes got a rent holiday and negotiated a lease until 2026, a home for 1,111 employees.

A much better photo than mine which was taken through a bug smeared windscreen!
