Las Vegas

June 5, Sunday

Woke early again, the sun comes up around 5.15am.  Hot again today, no surprises there!  We get on the road around 10.30 am intending to have a cruisy 85 mile trip on the I15 south to Vegas.  Check in time at the Circus Circus RV Park is not until 2pm so we are kinda filling in time.  Not much to see, scenery wise in the desert but before long we are on the outskirts of Vegas.  We pull off to get diesel and spy a Dennys which beckons, both for the very welcome aircon and their famous milk shakes.

At this same exit is a manned truck wash so we go investigate and put the coach through.  A wash was desperately needed as we haven’t been able to clean it since leaving Houston as water has been in short supply everywhere we stop.  So a team of six guys give her a good going over with long brushes and pressure wands.  Having the Rainex Wax Treatment too and she looks beautiful.  $47 well spent!

Very clean RV

It wasn’t so easy to find the RV park at Circus Circus, the whole comlex is huge and there are lots of roadworks.  The blogs we looked at have contradicting info on the best way to get into the park but we find our way in without too much trouble.

We found it!

The lady on reservations was very helpful, we picked a better site than they had allocated, closer to the pool (for RV Park guests only, the hotel has it’s own two pools for it’s 3,000+ guests), we only have to share with a maximum of 170 RVs.  It isn’t very busy at the Park right now but when we return from our little nosy up the strip it has filled up a lot.

We buy a three day bus pass and head south down the strip, luckily scoring the front seats in the top deck of the nice cool bus, an excellent vantage point for the many photos.  We ride the bus right down to the Mandalay where it turns and comes back north.  On the way back we stop of at the Fashion Show, a mall of 250 shops for a looksee (to see if I need to come back on my own tomorrow) and then we mosy about three blocks back to the RV for a cold drink and to put our feet up.

Once it is dark we get take the bus to Bellagio where we watch the water fountains dance to music, very pretty!

Bellagio Fountains

We wander around for a bit, have a drink at Caesars Palace, wander around a bit more and head back home. There are people everywhere, some of them are really weird too.
